Our friends over at Tintri just released some new deep dive white papers. There’s some great info for XenDesktop admins in there, regardless of what storage you are using. We were pleased to find FSLogix listed as a way of handling situations when concurrent updates to desktops and server side need to be made in sync. Tintri’s paper suggests that you stage the new version while keeping the old in place, then update all the desktops until all of them are running the new master including FSLogix and the new apps. A few clicks later, everything’s updated with an easy roll-back plan that doesn’t require movement of data.
Also mentioned in the papers are techniques on managing a master image. If that master contains FSLogix, you’ll have that much more flexibility to make changes and mitigate risk.
