Windows Search is a feature that has existed in the Windows OS since Windows Vista, although it did exist as freeware called Windows Desktop Search for XP and Server 2003. It replaced the Indexing Service that first arrived as part of the Windows NT4 Option Pack, which was deprecated in Windows 7 and finally removed in Windows 8.

Windows Search builds a full-text index of files on a device. The time required for the initial creation of this index depends on the amount and type of data to be indexed and can take up to several hours. In persistent environments, this does not present a problem, as the creation of the index is a one-time event. However, in non-persistent RDSH or VDI environments like XenApp and XenDesktop, this can present an issue.

A new chapter in life – Why I joined FSLogix as Cloud Architect and Evangelist?

Posted by Christiaan Brinkhoff on Jun 11, 2018 9:07:58 AM

As of today, I’m joining FSLogix as Cloud Architect and Evangelist. (Which I’m pretty excited about!)

Why I joined FSLogix?

Sometimes you get opportunities in life that you cannot ignore. A couple of months ago, I got in touch with FSLogix for the first time, and they asked if I would consider a permanent role within the company – main focus on region EMEA. The message was straightforward and solid, we are growing and need expansion on our technology experts team (Jim Moyle, Benny Tritsch, Michel Roth, Kevin Goodman and Gabe Knuth). Switching jobs usually is something that could happen once in 4 years to continue growing, although now I’m going to work for a vendor, which is something that was on my list for a very long time. Jim Moyle described it perfectly in his “Why I became a Technical Evangelist for FSLogix” article, which he’d written when he joined the team – “Working with people smarter than you are as a route to personal growth”. I’m very much looking forward to working with this extremely knowledgeable team!

Office365 + FSLogix = Party Time

Posted by Brandon Lee on May 29, 2018 12:51:50 PM

If you haven't had a chance to experience Citrix Synergy in the flesh, all I can say is, add it to the bucket list and you won't be disappointed. Suffice it to say, this year's Citrix Synergy was a major highlight for FSLogix, taking home Best New Technology and Best of Show for Cloud Cache. For first time attendee, James Kindon, he "...expected the event to be awesome, but had no idea how amazing not just the conference is, but how priceless the chance to meet with the community, and the inner team around the products we work day to day in."

Citrix announced Office 365 support in UPM/WEM. How does that affect you?

Posted by Gabe Knuth on May 18, 2018 11:33:20 AM

Last week at Synergy, Citrix announced support for Office 365 cache data in their Profile Management and WEM products, and more than a few people showed up at our booth and asked what it meant for us. Since so many attendees had questions about it, we figured it was worth writing a blog post so that people who weren’t at Synergy know what’s up, too.

Introducing Cloud Cache

Posted by Gabe Knuth on May 2, 2018 8:07:14 AM

One of the reasons I joined FSLogix was because of their roadmap, so I’m very excited to be here while we launch what I think is one of the most useful products I’ve ever seen: Cloud Cache. For FSLogix, Cloud Cache is the result of thousands of development hours building, from the ground up, a technology that satisfies our customers’ requests while at the same time adding unprecedented new features and immediate value for any company that’s using Windows desktops today.

Posted by Brandon Lee on Dec 11, 2017 2:29:47 PM
