Application Virtualization Smackdown Evolved

Posted by Rory Monaghan on Jan 23, 2018 12:14:07 PM

Some of you may have noticed we finished out the year 2017 without a release of the Application Virtualization Smackdown. This was intentional as we re-imagined the Smackdown.

We added CloudHouse to the Feature Matrix. We also added Thamim Karim and Kris Smith to our AppVirt Guru team. As the team has expanded, we found it the perfect time to rebrand AppVirt Guru too, giving the site a slicker layout.

XenApp Migration Survival Guide

Posted by Rory Monaghan on Aug 15, 2017 11:59:46 AM

Whilst more and more organizations have made the jump from XenApp 6.5 to 7.x, it seems many more are still hanging around on 6.5 or even earlier versions. While I don’t agree with doing that, I can understand it. With all of the work and revs that went into 6.5, it was a very stable and reliable product. It seems to me that most middle to large sized companies used XenApp and I would hazard a guess that most used 6.5 at one point or another. Defacto, many IT professionals have experience with XenApp 6.5, they like it and they are comfortable with it.

Base Image Script Framework (BIS-F) – Version 6.0.0

Posted by Matthias Schlimm on Apr 19, 2017 2:17:37 PM

the perfect way to seal your Base Image

Every time you build you’re base Image from scratch or update it, you must seal it before deploying it to your cloned devices. No matter if you are using Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop with Machine Creation Services (MCS) or Provisioning Services (PVS), VMware View or Microsoft only, BIS-F supports it all. Optimize your base Image before deployment, delete unique identifiers to prevent duplicate/ghost entries on your management server (Anti-Virus, SCCM, SCOM, etc.…), delete junk files, defrag your disk etc. All these necessary steps and much more has to be run manually, but here is a better way. Here’s the right tool for the job.

How to Roam your OneDrive data with FSLogix, based on a non-persistent Citrix XenApp desktop

Posted by Christiaan Brinkhoff on Apr 18, 2017 12:23:17 PM

I’ve written about the FSLogix Container solution in the past. About 6 months ago, I wrote an article about FSLogix named - Office365 on a non-persistent Citrix Desktop – where I describe how you can implement FSLogix on a Citrix XenApp (RDSH) non-persistent environment for making use of Office365 - Exchange Online / Cache Mode functionality. At that moment of writing, the OneDrive Container feature was still under development/investigation - but that changed last month – I’ve tested the today's latest FSLogix version 2.8 successfully, including the caching of all my OneDrive files!

Beta Signup Opens Today - Support for Outlook Search in Citrix XenApp/RDSH

Posted by Brad Rowland on Oct 26, 2016 7:14:33 PM

FSLogix is opening registration for the next version of Office 365 Container. This release is focused on enabling Windows Search database roaming, to support Outlook's search capability for Citrix XenApp/RDSH environments.

If your users need search on RDSH, or your organization is using Office 365 with virtual desktops, sign up for our beta program to get early access to code, prerelease blog approval, and automatic registration for participation prizes. If this is something that could help your organization, act now, because our last two beta's closed early due to the high response rate.

"FSLogix gives us true cached Exchange mode through its Office 365 Container. Our Outlook launch times went from several minutes to seconds. We also saw a dramatic improvement in the ongoing performance issues when navigating within Outlook such as opening a new email and composing an email, replying to an email, and switching to the calendar. FSLogix removed the roadblock that Cherry Health had reached with its Office 365 migration." -- Tim Riegler, Cherry Health
