The Technology Landscape 2018

Posted by Jim Airdo on Jul 11, 2018 1:24:22 PM

When I joined Citrix Systems, Inc. in 1993 as their first pre-sales engineer, I was excited and amped-up as to what the future would hold for virtual computing and multi-user computing systems that could run and deliver Windows applications over low bandwidth connections.

A new chapter in life – Why I joined FSLogix as Cloud Architect and Evangelist?

Posted by Christiaan Brinkhoff on Jun 11, 2018 9:07:58 AM

As of today, I’m joining FSLogix as Cloud Architect and Evangelist. (Which I’m pretty excited about!)

Why I joined FSLogix?

Sometimes you get opportunities in life that you cannot ignore. A couple of months ago, I got in touch with FSLogix for the first time, and they asked if I would consider a permanent role within the company – main focus on region EMEA. The message was straightforward and solid, we are growing and need expansion on our technology experts team (Jim Moyle, Benny Tritsch, Michel Roth, Kevin Goodman and Gabe Knuth). Switching jobs usually is something that could happen once in 4 years to continue growing, although now I’m going to work for a vendor, which is something that was on my list for a very long time. Jim Moyle described it perfectly in his “Why I became a Technical Evangelist for FSLogix” article, which he’d written when he joined the team – “Working with people smarter than you are as a route to personal growth”. I’m very much looking forward to working with this extremely knowledgeable team!

Citrix announced Office 365 support in UPM/WEM. How does that affect you?

Posted by Gabe Knuth on May 18, 2018 11:33:20 AM

Last week at Synergy, Citrix announced support for Office 365 cache data in their Profile Management and WEM products, and more than a few people showed up at our booth and asked what it meant for us. Since so many attendees had questions about it, we figured it was worth writing a blog post so that people who weren’t at Synergy know what’s up, too.

Citrix App Layering and FSLogix: Better Together!

Posted by Robb Shaw on May 4, 2018 1:31:12 PM

Prior to joining FSLogix I was a Solutions Architect for Unidesk, and eventually Citrix, after they acquired the company in 2017. With that acquisition, Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop gained a powerful tool to aid in reducing the effort required to manage images. Now called Citrix App Layering, I was able to see firsthand how Citrix customers benefitted from it by creating one main OS layer that could be managed and updated separately, but still be applied to many different desktop images. This capability also extends to applications and various platform elements to allow easy assignment and rollback.

The case of 100% Delivery via App-V

Posted by Tim Mangan on Jan 3, 2018 11:34:52 AM

While I will admit that I thought about this possibility, I never would have written about it unless I found a customer actually doing this.

I met them in a recent training class, and here is their story.

How to mix FSLogix Office 365 Containers and Online Mode in non-persistent Citrix Environments

Posted by Brandon Lee on Nov 30, 2017 4:05:21 PM

Sometimes it makes sense to use online mode in non-persistent Citrix environments. In James Kindon's latest article, FSLogix or Office Online - Selective use in Non Peristent Environments, he breaks down the considerations of catering for environments where some need profile containers and Cached Exchange Mode, while online mode should suffice for the rest. He specified three easy to drive technologies to achieve this goal.

  • AppLocker
  • Restricted Groups
  • Citrix Workspace Environment Management
