Citrix and Microsoft Ignite Session Recommends FSLogix to Address OST Cached Exchange Mode with Office 365 on Virtual Desktops
Hosted by industry experts, Adam Pulsakowski, Lead Systems Engineer, Citrix UK, and Jon Maunder, technical specialist at Microsoft, with a core focus on the Office experience, they outline the significant scenarios to consider with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft OneDrive for Business, and Skype for Business, when choosing to run Microsoft Office Apps inside Citrix virtual environments.
Beginning with Microsoft Outlook, they take into consideration these three primary scenarios:
- Exchange on-premises vs Outlook via Citrix on-premises
- Exchange Online vs Outlook via Citrix on-premises
- Exchange Online vs Outlook via Citrix in Azure
In addition to these scenarios, they remind the audience that there are other options such as ExpressRoute for Office 365, along with Partner Software, in the form of FSLogix, that are also worth further exploration/consideration.
With Skype for Business, the major considerations revolve around network congestion, data center performance and scalability, and a diminishing user experience. But OneDrive for Business has many more critical considerations. As seen in this video these considerations include:
- Supportability in terminal services
- Offline sync to local folder
- Storage space
- Sync to network folder not supported
