The FSLogix software is officially being released as a Microsoft product. At the same time, new entitlements to use the software are being announced and will be effective as of July 1. The new FSLogix release will be referred to as FSLogix version 1907.

When we launched FSLogix in 2012, our goal was to build software that helped customers reduce the amount of resources, time, and labor required to support virtual desktops. Our first two products, FSLogix Apps and FSLogix Profile Container, focused on addressing critical needs that have existed from the dawn of desktop virtualization. Our most recent product, Office 365 Container, is designed to enhance the Microsoft Office 365 experience in those virtual desktop environments.

IT control of Microsoft Office Add-ins has typically been a problem, especially on multi-user and shared systems.  After an Add-in like Workshare Professional is installed, it will be active for all users of the system.  What if the user doesn’t need access to the Add-in?  The Add-in will show up in the interface, it will consume memory, and there may be unintended licensing consequences.  The memory that some of these Add-ins consume is around 10 – 15 MBs and can add up quickly.

Replacing the Default Task Manager at the User Level

The task to be done today is to replace the regular Task Manager with a third party task manager like TSTaskman (http://www.ctrl-alt-del.com.au/files/TSTaskman.txt) or Process Explorer (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx).
