Deep Dive: Cláudio Rodrigues compares Microsoft UPD and FSLogix Profile/Office 365 Container

Posted by Gabe Knuth on Oct 30, 2018 1:48:34 PM

FSLogix created Profile Container to address the challenges of folder redirection and roaming profiles, while also supporting Office 365 and other applications that didn’t behave properly with any other profile storage solution. Though it may look similar to Microsoft’s UPD on the surface (both approach the problem using a virtual hard disk that contains the profile, which is attached to the OS at logon), the FSLogix implementation goes above and beyond UPD to provide an entirely seamless remote profile experience that supports any application, without roaming profiles, folder redirection, or a backend system. With our new Cloud Cache technology, those profile containers can be stored in multiple locations at the same time, even in the cloud.

One of my roles since joining FSLogix has been to build up and leverage a top-notch Technical Advisory Board. Today, FSLogix is proud to announce that we’ve added Shane Kleinert, Aaron Parker, James Rankin, and Joe Shonk to a group that already consists of Jarian Gibson, Tim Mangan, and Ian Parker. FSLogix can take Amazon Workspaces to the next level

Posted by Gabe Knuth on Jun 19, 2018 7:40:00 AM

There’s a lot to like about Amazon Workspaces. It’s easy to get started, there are a variety of different instance types available, there’s a persistent user disk, and the user experience is great, among other things. It’s no wonder Amazon is putting as many resources into it as they are, and they’re gaining quite a lot of attention because of it. There are, however, some places that FSLogix can improve the Workspace experience, and that’s the point of this article.

Citrix announced Office 365 support in UPM/WEM. How does that affect you?

Posted by Gabe Knuth on May 18, 2018 11:33:20 AM

Last week at Synergy, Citrix announced support for Office 365 cache data in their Profile Management and WEM products, and more than a few people showed up at our booth and asked what it meant for us. Since so many attendees had questions about it, we figured it was worth writing a blog post so that people who weren’t at Synergy know what’s up, too.

Introducing Cloud Cache

Posted by Gabe Knuth on May 2, 2018 8:07:14 AM

One of the reasons I joined FSLogix was because of their roadmap, so I’m very excited to be here while we launch what I think is one of the most useful products I’ve ever seen: Cloud Cache. For FSLogix, Cloud Cache is the result of thousands of development hours building, from the ground up, a technology that satisfies our customers’ requests while at the same time adding unprecedented new features and immediate value for any company that’s using Windows desktops today.

Gabe Knuth: Why I joined FSLogix

Posted by Gabe Knuth on Feb 1, 2018 9:09:03 AM

Sometimes life gives you an opportunity that you can't pass up, and I've been fortunate to have a few of those occasions in my career. The first was a random encounter with Brian Madden when we both worked at a reseller in Cleveland, OH, who said he was off to do a proof of concept for this thing called "MetaFrame" and asked if I wanted to come along. I'd been a desktop support engineer for a year or so, but had just been promoted to "server guy" after getting my CNA (it was the 90's!). I'd only been in the new role for a week or two when I learned about MetaFrame, but that one proof of concept shaped my entire career, and I was immediately pulled back towards desktops.
